
Valerie Fong
has over 35 years in the energy industry including positions at Pacific Gas and Electric, Alameda Power & Telecom, and the City of Palo Alto. She is currently a member of the CAISO’s Western Energy Imbalance Market Governing Body which was formed in July of 2016. In her role as Director/General Manager for the cities of Alameda and Palo Alto, she oversaw the electric and fiber optic utilities, and in the case of Palo Alto, its gas, water and sewer utilities as well, and was responsible for the commodity portfolios including risk management, distribution planning and maintenance, and policy development.
Valerie has served on several boards including the Power Association of Northern California; the California Power Exchange; the Transmission Agency of Northern California and the Northern California Power Agency as both an alternate and as a commissioner; the California Municipal Utilities Association; and as the representative for the Transmission Dependent Utilities on the CAISO’s Governing Board Nominating Stakeholder Group; and as the Board Secretary for St. Mary’s Medical Center Community Board.
Valerie graduated from the University of California at Berkeley and is a licensed Civil Engineer.
