Don't miss the Berkeley Cleantech University Prize - Friday, 4/13, 2pm
at Krutch Theater, following the Pathways to 100% Renewable Energy Conference program. - Entrance is FREE.
Student-led cleantech start-ups will compete, Shark Tank style, for $50,000 and qualification to a national competition for more prize money.
Six teams have been selected to compete this year for the grand prize. Runners up will join the grand prize winner in the U.S. Department of Energy's National Cleantech University Prize in Houston, Texas in June. The Berkeley CUP is an annual competition hosted by the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC) and a part of a $2.5 million program funded by the Department of Energy’s Technology to Market Program. This collaboration aims to inspire the next generation of clean technology entrepreneurs and bridge the gap between laboratory research and the marketplace. Student-based startups from all over the nation apply annually with creative business solutions and breakthrough technologies that can transform the clean energy economy. Selected teams go through 8 weeks of entrepreneurial training. The teams are paired with individual mentors from organizations across the Berkeley Innovation Ecosystem to help them develop their go-to-market plan and refine their business pitches. The final pitch event is the culmination of the program, after which a first prize winner is selected. For more information on the Berkeley CUP, please visit: http://cup.berkeley.edu/ .
