Remembering Our Intellectual Founding Father Who Would be 70 Today
Dr. Hermann Scheer, the inimitable pioneering global advocate for transitioning to 100% renewable energy and key architect of Germany's most successful renewable energy policies, would have been 70 years old today. In 2007, the Renewables 100 Policy Institute was founded under his encouragement and guidance, and since the world lost him in 2010, we are a few among many who feel the weight of his absence continually.
Fortunately, we have the legacy of his efforts and the memory of his tireless spirit. Thanks to the policies he spearheaded, especially the German feed-in tariff law, renewable energy has become increasingly ubiquitous and competitive, and 100% renewable energy scenarios are becoming reality around the globe. We have a long way to go, but we have also come a long way. We look forward to joining with many to build on Hermann Scheer's unique and massive legacy.
