go100percent.org Goes Live--Shows 100% Renewable Is Real Around the World
On Saturday, October 22, at the Los Angeles Premiere of "Revenge of the Electric Car," the Renewables 100 Policy Institute kicked off its new web project, go100percent.org. This website maps and tracks 100% renewable energy projects around the world and aims to marshall the effort of a global community who understands that using entirely renewable energy resources is necessary, urgent, and possible.
Friends and fans gathered to commemorate go100percent's online debut and to join the Go100Percent Community, as well as to see the hopeful sequel to "Who Killed the Electric Car?"
The Renewables 100 Policy Institute partnered on this event with counterspill.org, a web project founded by John Quigley and "Revenge of the Electric Car" and "Who Killed the Electric Car?" director Chris Paine that maps and tracks 100 years and counting of non-renewable energy disasters worldwide. Renewables 100 Policy Institute's Founder Diane Moss said, "It is important to look at the problem to understand why we urgently need the solution."
As of this moment, go100percent.org has mapped 8 countries, 18 regions, 22 cities, and a total population of 31.8 million committed to shifting to 100% renewable energy in at least one sector (electricity, heating/cooling/gas, transportation).
